Warm Weather Ahead: Albuquerque’s Tuesday Morning Outlook

Unseasonably High Temperatures Continue

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The unseasonably warm weather pattern in Albuquerque is set to continue, with temperatures expected to remain significantly above average this Tuesday. Following a record-breaking high of 69°F on Monday, which marked the sixth day in December with record highs, residents should brace for more warm weather, though not quite at record levels today.

Today’s Forecast

Expect mostly sunny skies across much of the eastern half of New Mexico today. While areas in the west, particularly the Four Corners region, may see increased cloud coverage, sunshine is still likely to peek through. Meteorologists predict temperatures will soar to about 20°F above the seasonal average, maintaining a trend of warm afternoons in the 60s. This marks the seventh consecutive day of such warmth for Albuquerque as we approach the end of December.

Looking Ahead: Christmas Eve and Day

As we approach the holiday weekend, the forecast indicates a shift towards cooler and wetter conditions. A low-pressure system is expected to bring moisture from the atmospheric river, which has already impacted parts of California and surrounding states. Rain is likely to begin in western New Mexico as early as Christmas Eve morning, with a 10-20% chance of showers in the morning, increasing later in the day.

On Christmas Day, Albuquerque may experience morning showers between 7 and 9 a.m., with additional rain possible in the afternoon. Although a cold front will come through later, temperatures are forecasted to stay above freezing for most areas, meaning a “soggy” rather than a snowy Christmas for the city.

Community Impact and Safety

Residents and tourists should be aware that while the warm temperatures provide a pleasant holiday atmosphere, the potential for rain could impact outdoor activities and holiday plans. Motorists are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and road conditions, especially as rain may lead to slick roads in some areas.
